The Radio Dept @ Bowery Ballroom 12/1/2010

The elusive Swedish trio that rarely steps foot on an American stage made a room full of eager fans very happy last night. It was the second night of two sold out NYC shows (the first was at the Knitting Factory) and fans from nearby cities (Philly, Boston, South Jersey) traveled to NYC to see the band, as this was one of the few scheduled East Coast dates.

The band made eye contact and direct communication with the audience, and Johan apologized for being shy. It was evident that live performance is not something they’re entirely comfortable with or used to yet, but it was quite endearing and even added to the beauty & longing of the songs.

Fans cheered for songs (1995 & David especially) they wanted to hear and called the band sexy, which they seemed to find amusing.

A brief (just under an hour & no encore), but excellent set. Hoping this is just the start of many U.S. tours!
